Here’s How to Get the Most Out of It

On July 23-24, the International Bulk Wine & Spirits Show (IBWSS) will once again host hundreds of visitors, exhibitors and speakers from all over the world in San Francisco as part of a two-day trade show and business conference dedicated to the bulk wine, bulk spirits, and private label industry. Launched just a few years ago, IBWSS San Francisco has quickly become the premier industry event to meet the world’s biggest bulk wine, bulk spirits, and private label suppliers.

As in past years, the 2019 IBWSS San Francisco event will be jam-packed with keynotes, breakout sessions, panel discussions, new product releases, and lots of networking opportunities. Whether you are attending one of the in-depth industry presentations or spending time on the trade show floor, you’ll be picking up brilliant new ideas to take back to the workplace, as well as forming new connections and developing new partnership opportunities that could have an immediate impact on your bottom line. To help you make the best use of your time at IBWSS San Francisco, we’ve put together this handy, multi-part guide to getting the most out of the event.

Review all sessions and speakers ahead of time

IBWSS Conference gives you solid insights on how to grow your bulk and private label business. Check out the full schedule here.

Both days of the IBWSS event are broken into morning and afternoon sessions, and you’ll definitely want to check out who is delivering the keynote each morning, as well as the specific talks or presentations that are most valuable for your own business. For example, on Day 1 of IBWSS San Francisco, you’ll want to arrive early to hear from Jennifer Leitman, EVP of Marketing for The Family Coppola. She’ll be speaking on the topic of “How Emotion Drives Purchase” and providing plenty of examples of how the Coppola brand attempts to leverage emotion within the consumer buying experience. That session alone might be worth the price of admission if it results in you being able to craft a more compelling overall brand experience.

Team up with co-workers or team members to attend all the sessions

team up

If you’ll be traveling to San Francisco with fellow co-workers or team members, it might make sense to choose in advance which sessions each of you will attend. For example, one of your team members might attend all of the sessions dedicated to sourcing and bulk wine logistics, while another team member might attend all the sessions dedicated to developing a private label brand. At the end of the two-day event, you’ll be able to pool your resources and, most importantly, you’ll each have plenty of time to check out all the action happening on the trade show floor.

One hallmark of the IBWSS experience is all the unique, first-hand access you will have to some of the biggest names in the industry. So don’t be afraid to stick around after a presentation to ask in-depth questions, or to approach any of the other participants. There’s more to IBWSS San Francisco than just keynotes and presentations, and much of the buzz and excitement of the event comes from meeting people from all of the world, all of them passionate about the world of bulk wine, bulk spirits, and private label. Once the trade show floor opens up at 11:00 each morning, you have a unique opportunity to speak with some of the biggest and most important companies in the world of bulk wine and private label, so take some time to introduce yourself to these people.

Meet BTN Team @IBWSS SF, Sid Patel, Ankita & Mauricio

The organizers of the International Bulk Wine & Spirits Show are Beverage Trade Network (BTN), which hosts events for the wine and spirits industry around the world. You’ll often see members of the BTN team interviewing exhibitors, setting up the stage ahead of new speakers, or simply making sure that all the little details are being taken care of in order to deliver a truly rewarding trade show experience. If you see members of the Beverage Trade Network team, feel free to stop them and chat about your experience at the event.

Ask a lot of questions and take notes

Ask questions

Tim Hanni gave a solid presentation on bulk wine financials last year. Attend this year in his session if you want to learn about How to make a profit from sourcing grapes.

At the end of every speaker presentation at IBWSS San Francisco, there’s always time for members of the audience to ask questions. This is a great opportunity to tap into the advice and insights of some of the biggest names in the industry. For example, if you have questions about short- or long-term trends in the bulk wine industry, why not ask Steve Dorfman, Partner at Ciatti Company, directly? If you are curious about supply trends in an up-and-coming part of the wine world, for example, this might be a great chance to get ahead of an important new trend before anybody else. But don’t worry about copying down every comment from every slide – all presentations from the event will be made available to participants after the conclusion of the show. Many participants, for example, simply take photos of key slides with their smartphones, and focus on capturing key insights, comments, and anecdotes not found in any PowerPoint slide.

Follow along on social media

One way to boost your overall experience at IBWSS San Francisco is to follow along on social media. By following the event on Instagram, for example, you might get some great ideas for vendor booths you’d like to visit, or for people you’d like to network with after the trade show winds down each evening. Often, relationships at IBWSS San Francisco are formed after people connect on social media and discover mutually shared interests.
